Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
Goodreads
My Thoughts: I have been recommended this book so many times that I've lost count, but, to be completely honest, I put off trying to get a copy from the library because I just wasn't sure I'd like it. I was looking for something different to maybe pull me out of my reading slump though & thought "Why not?". I'm glad I gave it a try because I ended up really liking it & I'm interested to see where Laini takes the story next. The characters & the world she started building in this one were awesome. Thank you to everyone who kept telling me to read this one until I finally listened.
Looking For Alaska by John Green
Goodreads
My Thoughts: So far I've read two of John Green's books & so far I've had friends that have died in the same/similar ways as characters in those books, which basically means that they left me emotionally drained. However, I think that's part of the appeal of his books; the way they tap into your emotions, good & not-so-good, is what makes them so compelling. I love how John mixed humor in with the darker parts of this story & I really loved the way he ended it overall for Lara, Takumi, Pudge, & the Colonel. I also liked the Eagle's reaction after they subverted the patriarchal paradigm.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Goodreads
I still have no words for this book other than "It makes you feel all of the things," so I'm just going to leave you with this, which pretty much sums it up:

The Last Forever by Deb Caletti
Goodreads
My Thoughts: DNF - I really enjoyed Stay & I really really wanted to like this book, but unfortunately I didn't. I just couldn't get into this one & I think a large part of that was because I couldn't seem to connect with the main character for some reason. I ended up returning this one to the library early without finishing it.
Favorite: Much as I enjoyed Daughter of Smoke & Bone and Looking For Alaska, this round goes to The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Thank you to Sash from Sash & Em for gifting me a copy of TFiOS when it first came out. I've read it so many times & I still love it.
