This Week'd Topic: Top Ten(ish) Words Or Phrases That Will Make You NOT Pick Up A Book
1) Incest: This had to be #1 because it's the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this week's topic. It just eeks me out & I really don't like reading about it. 2) Love Triangles: Please make them stop. A couple of them are OK, but a lot of them aren't written so well & it feels like it's just thrown in for the heck of it. 3) Zombies: I'm still trying to give a couple of zombie books a try, but so far I just haven't found one I like. Most of them are just too gory for me. 4) Ouija Board: I actually gave away a book because that was the main focus of it. There are just some things I don't want to mess with & Ouija boards are one of those things that scare the bejabbers out of me. 5) 50 Shades of Grey Comparison: I didn't want to read the original 50 Shades series so I sure as anything don't want to read the series that are compared to it. I may miss out on a great read because it was compared to the wrong book. 6) Twilight Comparison: I've read Twilight. I liked Twilight. If I want another Twilight, I will reread Twilight. Now let's move on. 7) Basically Any Comparison At All: My thinking is that if I've already read the book you're comparing the new one to, why would I want to read the same thing all over again? Even if I really loved the book, I'm moving on to something new so that's what I want. This could also work against the book if it's compared to one I didn't like. The book may be really good, but I'll miss out on that because of the comparison.    Apparently I'm not quite as picky when it comes to book topics as I thought. What about y'all? Are any of these deal breakers for you as well?
